In today’s multicultural world of openness and enlightenment, it is more important than ever to recognize the boundaries of ownership when it comes to fashion. Groups who first adopt a style thereby forever own that style, and emulating it if you are not part of that group is a grave insult. Unlike the well-defined rules of physical and intellectual property however, the rules of cultural appropriation are often murky.
