Jets Sign Quarterback Kaleb Coppernik to 1-Year Deal

The New York Jets bolstered their injury-depleted stock of quarterbacks today by signing Kaleb Coppernik to a one-year deal.

Coppernik, who last played football in 2018 for Penn State Gettysburg, threw for 15 touchdowns and 14 interceptions en route to leading the Carpetbaggers to a 6-5 record in the Mountain Valley Conference his senior year.

"Well, I'm probably a bit rusty, but I guess I can give it a shot," Coppernik remarked.

"It's not like I was the starter at State, either," he added.

Coppernik, who had been working as a physical trainer and financial consultant when he got the call from the Jets, responded to a question regarding a pair of sexual assault charges that were brought against him during his collegiate career.

"Well, those girls were lying, so as long as I never see them again it shouldn't be a problem," he reasoned.

Meanwhile, Jets General Manager Joe Douglas praised the team's likely soon-to-be starter in a press release.

"I'm sure he'll be fine," Douglas said.
