Florida Man Stands Ground Against Family, Kills Wife and 3 Children

JACKSONVILLE, FL - A man who killed his wife and three children Tuesday night will not be arrested after he informed police that he was "standing his ground" against his family.

Adopted by Florida and 23 other states, the Stand Your Ground Law grants immunity to anyone who uses deadly force, inside or outside his home, if he can reasonably claim he was defending himself.

The man, 44 year-old Dennis Greggs, says he used an ax to dispatch his rampaging wife Paige, 41, and three daughters, Grace, 13, Faith, 10, and Trinity, 6, after they attacked him.

"I don't know. They all just kind of flipped out all of a sudden," Greggs recounted, still shaking from the incident, "Lucky for me I'd left that ax in the kitchen."

According to police, Greggs was so unnerved by the assault that he set his house on fire and drove nearly 200 miles across two state lines before being located at a Motel 6 in Dothan, Alabama early this morning.

"I was afraid of their ghosts," Greggs explained.

Florida Governor Rick Scott has issued a formal apology to Greggs for his inconvenience.
