Ferguson Protestors Practicing Passive Aggressive Resistance

What began as a single act has expanded into a large-scale movement of passive aggressive resistance amongst those protesting the shooting death of 18 year-old Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri.

The new form of protest, which incorporates elements of passive resistance and active aggression into indirect expressions of hostility, was initiated by Brown's friend Neena Meeks, who baked a pan of brownies for Wilson.

"I just wanted to thank Officer Wilson for shooting Michael down in the street like a dog," Meeks said, "I hope he and his family enjoy the brownies."

Since Meeks delivered her brownies, the Wilsons, his attorneys and dozens more Ferguson police officers have been the targets of passive aggression, mostly in the form of African American members of the community performing acts of generosity for their benefit.

Stephanie Jackson, wife of Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson, claims a group of black teenagers drove onto her property this weekend and began doing yardwork.

"They mowed the lawn, trimmed the hedge, and were just very, very nice," she said.

Lesley McSpadden, Brown's mother, herself hand-delivered a bouquet of flowers to the Wilson residence.

"I didn't want to have a son anymore anyway," she said.
