Chris Paul Released by Pauls

One week after being traded from the Houston Rockets to the Oklahoma City Thunder - who are also looking to trade him - Chris Paul was designated for assignment by his family Thursday.

Commenting that, "It was just time," Paul family spokesperson Robin Paul thanked her son for the 34 years he's spent as a son, father, husband and sibling to her and her husband Charles, his brother C.J., his wife Jada and their two children.

"Chris is great. Don't get us wrong. We've had a lot of good times together," Mrs. Paul said. "Like the time we almost went to Disney World before Chris got sick, or the time we were all planning to go to Hawaii until Chris hurt his knee."

Asked about the approximately $110 million remaining on Paul's current NBA contract - a substantial sum that has figured heavily into the Thunders' difficulty in moving him but would be a significant windfall for the Pauls - Mrs. Paul remarked that, "Money isn't everything."

"We wish Chris the best," she said.

Paul, whose contract with State Farm insurance will also not likely be extended, reportedly has a bachelor's degree in Communications.
