Hipster Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inducts More Bands You've Never Heard Of

From sluggish, shoe-gazing emo to jarring, incomprehensible math rock, the Hipster Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2024 is a veritable who's who of bands you've never heard of.

The Liver Spots, Empty Mailbox and No Picnic were first-ballot inductees this year, while The Body Builders, Sunday Drizzle and Tuna Sandwich also earned entry as performers your cool friends pretend to like.

Heralded for their lack of conventional song structure and melody, No Picnic have been filling basement-sized venues since their formation in bassist Bryce Bolton's garage in 2002, where Bolton still resides. Having successfully eschewed both critical and commercial success for two decades with their unremarkable musicianship, the band was a shoe-in for induction.

Likewise, Empty Mailbox's unstoried career made them an easy selection this year. Neither politically nor socially relevant, the group's unmatched obscurity and hand drawn t-shirts have made them hipster favorites for the last quarter century.

As of press time, it has been revealed that Tuna Sandwich is not actually a band, but a selection on a lunch menu that was accidentally sent to voting HRRHOF members.

The 18th annual Hipster Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony will be held outside Vinyl Showdown in North Hollywood this Saturday night.
